What I Played in February 2025

It’s time for another month-in-review! I didn’t get to do much this month, but I still had fun with what I played. I don’t have anything else to say in this intro, so here are the games I played in February 2025, in no particular order.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I continued playing in my town. Obviously I didn’t do as much as the insane first month, but I still did plenty of fun things. First of all, I made Viché and Cece move into my town! In case you don’t know, these two villagers are cosplayers themed after Marie and Callie from Splatoon! I made Viché move right next to my house and she’s awesome. I love having someone resembling Marie walking around town and interacting with me and the other villagers 🥹. Along with Cece, it’s just really cool to have what’s essentially the Squid Sisters just hanging out around and about.

Aside from that: I kept decorating my house, kept decorating my town with flowers and paths, built more PWPs, caught more fish and bugs… y’know, the usual. Oh yeah! After 54 days of playing, I achieved a perfect town! That’s pretty cool. I built the flower clock to celebrate :3

Super Metroid (Map Rando)

I finally tried something new on my modded 3DS (something other than ACNL), and that was to play Super Metroid! Since I’ve already played this game twice, I decided to spice things up by playing with a randomizer patch from maprando.com. Gotta say, this was super fun! It was refreshing to experience the game like this, where things are familiar but not quite the same. It was also very cool to recognize some of the room layouts, even with different area sprites. I played it with Basic skills (I’m not a speedrunner) and Normal item progression, but I’m down to try this again but with Tricky item progression. We’ll see! Anyway, I really liked this ROM hack and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes Super Metroid and wants to replay it with a twist.

Splatoon 3

Surprise! Nintendo gave us a rerun of the chocolates Splatfest. I represented Milk Chocolate again and… didn’t really have fun. Sorry. Solo queue is still kinda miserable and I’m still burnt out on the game. Still, I managed to reach rank Ruler and of course I took 50 more pictures of Marie in all the chocolate colors. This is actually the first Splatfest rerun in Splatoon 3, and I wonder if we’ll get more of these reruns in the future…

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Played this with friends a couple of times and had a great time :). Mario Kart is just so good dude. I hope the new Mario Kart for Switch 2 gives us another great game.

Super Mario Party Jamboree

Another game I played with friends. Good times. We did accidentally close the game in the last turn but the results wouldn’t have changed, so phew. Lesson learned: don’t press the Home button if your friends are spamming stickers…

Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour

Played this with friends while we were hanging out to celebrate a birthday :3. My friends are getting kinda good, oh no… They better not catch up…

Tetris 99

There was a Donkey Kong theme event and uhhhhhh that’s about it. I got the theme. Cool. Yay.

Balatro

Played more Balatro as usual. One noteworthy thing I did was getting the achievement where you have to score 100 million chips with one hand :D! Thanks to this amazingly lucky run, I also reached ante 12 for the first time (btw yes I’m aware I misspoke in the linked post. I reached, not beat. Oops…). Insane stuff. I also started doing some challenge runs, so far I’ve beaten the first 10 challenges. And finally, I beat Gold Stake for the first time!!!! Thank you checkered deck, I love you so much.
