What I Played in October 2025

It’s time for another month-in-review! Due to time and energy constraints, this will be an even shorter and sweeter one. Let’s just get into it, here are the games I played in October 2025, in no particular order.

Tomodachi Life

I’ve been resisting playing this game for years, in the hopes that a new game in the series would get announced and I could get my Tomodachi fix from that. When Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was announced, I rejoiced… My dreams came true… But that only caused my desire for Tomodachi Life to grow. I started to create a list of Miis that I would like to include in this new game’s island. This solidified my idea that I should NOT replay Tomodachi Life on the 3DS; I’ve already played this game twice and I didn’t wanna “waste” my newly created cast… but the temptations kept growing. Thankfully, a way to satiate my desires without breaking my promises would soon arise…

Turns out, the solution to this was to play this game with friends. Make a new save file for the whole group to play, where everyone helps guide the game by pitching in Mii ideas and suggesting player inputs. For me personally, this had two benefits: I got to keep my cast of Miis untouched AND I get to relive the novelty of the game through other people’s eyes. Both cases helped deal with my concerns over playing this game a 3rd time and burning myself out with a game I technically was already burnt out on. And it has been a marvelous experience! My friends and I have curated a fantastic roster of Miis and we’ve witnessed some of the most hilarious interactions and events I’ve seen come from this game. Even though I’ve seen most of what Tomodachi Life has to offer, the fresh Mii interactions are what makes this game absolutely timeless. I’ll be playing this game on-and-off till Living the Dream releases.

Splatoon 3

Believe it or not, this game is once again the game I played the most this month. After playing these weapons since their launch, I FINALLY got 5-stars on the S-BLAST ‘91 and later the S-BLAST ‘92. I’m very proud of these accomplishments and the amount of experience and skill I’ve acquired with these weapons. On another note, there was a Splatfest this month so I got to participate in that and take a few pictures with my friends and a bunch of pictures of Marie.

Once Upon A Katamari

WOOOOO!!! A NEW KATAMARI GAME!! I still have not finished playing it but so far it’s really fun, about what you’d expect from a Katamari game. Really liking all these new locations (the time travel theming is cool) and the old ‘n’ new mix of mission objectives. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of the Katamari formula, it’s so addictive to just roll and roll stuff and just destroy everything by the end. It never gets old! I hope to continue playing this game soon.

Kirby Planet Robobot

I started to play this game in an effort to get more into Kirby; I’ve started a couple of games (like Forgotten Land) but never finished them. Unfortunately I’ve been struggling to engage with it. I know difficulty isn’t the only way to make a game interesting but I think how easy the game is contributes quite a bit to my boredom. Still, I can see some interesting ideas here, and I really want to give this game a fair shot, so I’ve been playing this game in my friends’ company in an effort to push me to complete this game. I want to at least see the latter half of it, I know it won’t get much more challenging but I hope it becomes more interesting.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

I played the first hour of this game. I gotta find the time to play more.

Minecraft

I got a new PC, which meant it was time to continue my tradition of Minecraft being the first video game I install and play on any new machine of mine (mostly as a benchmark). And oh my… I can run this game at maximum render distance at the highest framerate my monitor could handle (144fps) without even a hitch or stutter. Maybe it’s because I got used to my old PC which is 5-years-old at this point and have been blind to advancements in PC parts such as GPUs, but genuinely could not believe my eyes when I saw this game run like this. Maybe with the extra power I can afford to apply some cool shaders to up the experience even more! But I’ll get around to that whenever I properly get back to the game.

Tetris Effect: Connected

Likewise, I played a bit of this game as a benchmark for my new PC. I can’t believe I can just run this game at max graphics now, geez…

Mario’s Super Picross

Apparently I played one (1) puzzle in here so I guess I have to mention it.

Wario Land 4

I played like the first two levels. I’m willing to give it another shot some other time, though I will admit that Pizza Tower has kinda spoiled me with this sort of game lol. This one felt kinda slow since I got used to the insane speeds of Peppino’s game.
