Game List

What is this list?

This list serves two purposes. First and foremost, as the name implies, it a place where I maintain a record of all the games I've played over the years, as well as track various stats like my play time and completion status. Secondly, it serves as a tier list where I organize games based on how much I've enjoyed them.

I made this list mainly for myself, to keep track of all this information and maintain it for life (hopefully), but I also made it to share it with the world, so people like you can get to know what sort of games I like to play and whatnot! The list will be regularly updated as I play more games, change and evolve opinions, and find or remember missing info.

Here's all the stuff you'll find on each entry in my list:

Name That's the name of the game, baby!
Platform I Played On Self explanatory. For multiplatform games, I list specifically the ones I used.
Play Time The amount of time I've spent playing that game. Explained below!
Status My completion status of that game. Explained below!
Rank A letter grade that represents how much I like a game. Explained below!
My Thoughts A summary of my thoughts on a game, where I give my opinion and/or talk about my experience playing it. (Optional)
Status Note A brief explanation on my completion status with that game, and maybe my thoughts on that status. (Optional)

How is this table sorted?

This list is first sorted by rank, like a tier list! Within each rank (including the +/- sign), the games are then sorted alphabetically, since I feel about the same for games with the same rank. The exception to this are the S rank games, which are instead sorted in order of my favorites (as numbered in their dedicated page). Unrated games are found at the bottom, separate from the tier list portion, and is also sorted alphabetically.

I may add custom sorting options in the future (such as sorting by column), so stay tuned!

Play Time

Pretty self explanatory if you've ever played any games: it's how much I played a game (wow what a surprise). I use whatever number the launcher, console, or in-game counter says. I'll only use whole numbers; I will round all decimals to the nearest integer. Some games have no counter; times with a '~' next to it mean it's my best approximation/guess. Most of my childhood games are marked with '?' since it's impossible for me to know and any guess would probably be wildly incorrect.

Completion Status

Here's the completion statuses I use to categorize the games I've played.

Completed (100%) I have completed everything the game wants me to complete! All the levels, all the quests, all the collectibles... whatever the game considers complete. I'll usually be guided by an in-game % counter, some sort of checklist, or the game's achievements on platforms like Steam.
Finished I beat the game! I saw the credits roll, I beat the final boss or level, or whatever the game considers finished. Analogous to what speedrunners call any%.
Unfinished I have not beaten this game.
Satisfied For games that have no clear condition or ending (e.g. sandbox, arcade-style, multiplayer games), but I have played enough to feel like it was worth it. May rarely give it to games that I stopped playing and felt satisfied with, even if they do have a defined ending that I didn't reach.
Unsatisfied For games that have no clear condition, yet I haven't played enough to feel like it was worth it, or maybe I didn't like it. This is a pretty rare case, though.

Ranking System // Tier List

This list is not only for keeping track of games I've played: I also keep track of my opinions! :D

I've turned a portion of this list into a tier list. My rankings for games are purely subjective based on my own personal opinion, and are not measured by any numbers or metrics. I rank games based on two factors: the main and big factor is simply my enjoyment of the game. Pretty self explanatory, if I had fun playing a game, I will like it. Stuff like challenge, novelty, replayability, narrative, and aesthetics are included here. The other factor I take into account is the impact it had on me, if any. Games that have left a lasting impression on me that persists outside of the game will get bonus imaginary points from me.

Aside from the letter grade, each rank is subdivided further via a + or - sign. How I decide these is purely based on vibes. Simply put, I prefer pluses over neutrals, and neutrals over minuses (and minuses over the pluses of the rank below, of course).

S Rank

Special Games

These are my favorite games of all time. Not only have they provided immense amounts of joy, but the impact they have had on me cannot be described in simple words.

Being in S tier doesn't mean a game is flawless or that it's a masterpiece, even if they are. It means that the game, or the series it belongs to, is very special to me and has defined me as a person.

A Rank

Amazing Games

These are the best of the best! This is for the games that I really enjoyed, have had an impact or me, or both! These games are nothing short of fantastic or outstanding.

This is the highest rank a game can normally go to. The games here are some the best I've ever played, even if they're not top of all time for me.

B Rank

Good games

Games that I like! As simple as that. These are some pretty good games that, while they didn't captivate me as much as the ones in the ranks above, were still well worth my time.

This will probably be the most populated rank since I'm a video game enjoyer and I enjoy a lot of things. This is my bottom line for "thumbs up" games.

C Rank

Just... Okay Games

Here lie the games that I dont dislike, but don't really like either. I like to describe them as highly as "fine" or "okay", and as lowly as "mediocre" or "boring". Games that make me feel neutral.

Games here may be decent games that I liked a bit, but come with ups and downs that withheld me from fully enjoying them. Or maybe they were really mid but not exactly bad.

D Rank

Kinda Bad Games

Games that I did not like. These are flawed experiences are really difficult to enjoy, where any redeeming qualities are far outweighed by their negatives.

There won't be many games here since I tend to avoid bad games in the first place, but everyone has played bad games at some point whether they want to or not. Or maybe I just have an unpopular opinion.

F Rank

Awful Games

Games that I had the displeasure to experience and never want to play again. Games that go out of their way to be as unenjoyable as possible.

Thankfully, I have not played such a game so far, but this tier still exists in anticipation for the fateful day I meet my demise.

i know the spinning letters aren't synced, leave me alone. since gifs are loaded based on how far you've scrolled: skill issue honestly

As I stated previously, only a portion of this list is ranked. So what does it mean for the rest of the games that are unranked? The answer is: absolutely nothing. An unranked game is a game I haven't ranked, go figure. This could be for a number of reasons, including but not limited to: I played it too recently and want to avoid recency bias, I played it so long ago that I don't remember my opinion in detail, I played it so little that my experience wasn't all that encompassing, or I simply haven't found the time to think about where to rank it. The last two are probably my most common reasons.

Alright that's it
