List of Games I've Played

This is a non-comprehensive list of most of the games I've ever played. I only listed games that were worth mentioning, whether it's because I like them, I've played them for a decent amount of time, or are otherwise noteworthy. You can read my thoughts on each game plus a brief explanation on the status by clicking the "Read More" button! (Click it again to collapse it back)

This list will be regularly updated as I play new games, change opinions, and remember old games I played.
This list is first sorted by rank. S tier is sorted in order of my favorites; the rest of the tiers are sorted alphabetically. Unrated games are found at the bottom.
Small note: Some games don't offer a play time counter. Times with a '~' next to them range from being either a close approximation or a wild guess.

Game Platform I Played On Play Time Status Rank Thoughts
Minecraft PC, Switch, Mobile 3000~ hrs Finished

S

My Thoughts:

This is my favorite video game of all time.

With an infinite number of things to do, any minute with this game is a minute well spent. My favorite way to play is in a good ol' fashioned vanilla survival world. Gathering resources, developing your base, building cool stuff, and exploring the enourmous world! Whether I'm playing solo or with friends, on a world of my own or an adventure map, with or without mods... I'll always enjoy this amazing game. I've been playing Minecraft since I was a kid, and I'll keep playing it for as long as I can.

Status Note:

I've played in wayyy too many worlds and servers and never really focused on the advancements (not like it matters anyway). That being said, I'm sorta interested in doing that for my main save file. One day I'll get all the advancements in my main world. One day...

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Switch 765 hrs Completed (100%)

S

My Thoughts:

This is one of my favorite video games of all time.

This game is the best adventure I've ever been on. Exploring the vast landscape of Hyrule was fun, exciting, and rewarding. Every nook and cranny of the world felt carefully placed and crafted to make the best experience possible. I liked scavenging for resources and gear to make the most of it in cooking and combat. While game is far from perfect (I could use a few less Koroks in my life), it did so much right that it far outweighs my complaints of this adventure. Breath of the Wild succeeds in fulfilling its incredibly large scope, and has shown me what video games can truly achieve.

Status Note:

Absolute completion. 100% map (this includes 120 shrines and 900 koroks), all quests, all medals of honor, all armor upgrades, all key items, everything. One of my proudest gaming achievements!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch 200 hrs Finished

S

My Thoughts:

This is one of my favorite video games of all time.

This game manages to take everything that made Breath of the Wild amazing and one-up them. It's everything that game wanted to be and more. The number of tweaks, refinements, quality of life improvements over the old formula is astounding. All the new content is amazing while still retaining that magic from the first game. The Fuse and Ultrahand abilities are mindblowing. The new locations are great and old locations were positively refreshed. I was constantly surprised by new things, and shocked to see how old things have changed. This game brought me a lot of joy and delivered on being a sequel to one of my favorite games of all time. Those first 130 hours I spent from the beginning to the credits were some of the most fun I'd ever had in gaming.

Status Note:

I want to 100% this game in the future, just taking a break right now.

Splatoon 3 Switch 750 hrs Ongoing

S

My Thoughts:

This is one of my favorite video games of all time.

I am very passionate about this game. The gameplay is amazing and has not gotten stale in the hundreds of hours I've played. The variety of weapons, game modes and other options always keep this game fresh. The customization is insane, with tons of clothes to pick for your character, a splashtag to display your achievements, and lockers that you can build to reflect your personality. I do have a few gripes with the game (such as the poor map design), but that doesn't stop me from loving it. It's hard to describe why this game is so special to me and there's tons of stuff I'm leaving out, just trust me that I love this game way more than what these words make it seem.

Status Note:

You can't really "finish" a multiplayer game, but I did beat the singleplayer and 100%'d Side Order. I'm still playing this game's multiplayer btw.

Stardew Valley PC 430 hrs Finished

S

My Thoughts:

This is one of my favorite video games of all time.

This game lets you live a complete virtual life. There's so much to do here, from tending your farm, to sharpening skills such as fishing and mining, to building and maintaining a social life, and so, so, so much more. It's amazing how much content there is in this game without feeling bloated or being unpolished. Another cool thing is that there's no wrong way to play this game. The game allows you to take it as quickly or as slowly as you want, and there's no punishment for either one. Very cool and comforting game.

Status Note:

I have done what the game considers perfection and have reached the summit! There's still a few Steam achievements to do and I've yet to explore all of what update 1.6 has to offer, so there's still a lil more to be done.

Tetris Effect: Connected PC 100 hrs Finished

S

My Thoughts:

This is one of my favorite video games of all time.

I never thought Tetris would become such an immersive audiovisual experience, yet here we are. Not only is the presentation on point, but the major reason this is my favorite Tetris game is that it's just a complete Tetris package. You have Journey mode, which is a fascinating campaign and I liked seeing all the different themes. You also have a wealth of single and multiplayer modes, covering classics like Marathon, to cool new things like Mystery and Connected Vs. It even has Classic NES Tetris! It has nearly everything a Tetris game can offer.

Status Note:

I got 40/43 achievements, but it'll be a while before I get those. Anyway, who cares? It's Tetris, you play for fun, not the achievements.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Switch 225 hrs Finished

S

My Thoughts:

This is one of my favorite video games of all time.

This is one of the, if not the best Mario Kart. There's a ton of everything. You get 48 courses that are both beautiful to race on and beautiful to look at (plus you get 48 more with the DLC!). The character roster is expansive and so are your kart build combinations. The game itself is very balanced and fair, obviously stuff like the item balance is meant to bring a little chaos but it's nothing outrageous. The fine-tuned physics made driving and drifting feel amazing. Whether you play solo, with friends locally, or in online matches, this game is always a blast.

Status Note:

I've got 3 stars in every vanilla grand prix cup and most DLC cups. I'll consider this game complete when the last DLC wave releases and I get 3 stars on all of those cups.

Cuphead PC 77 hrs Finished

S

My Thoughts:

This is one of my favorite video games of all time.

This game is a piece of art. The animation is beautiful and lively, with tons of attention to detail and lots of care put into it. The soundtrack is equally phenomenal and further immerses you into this game. It's difficult, very difficult, but it makes conquering feel ever so rewarding. Cuphead is significant to me for making me grow my skills in gaming, and showing me the power of video games to be anything they set out to be.

Status Note:

I used to have 200%, then the DLC came out... I beat it but I now have a few achievements missing. I'll return someday!

Rhythm Heaven Fever Wii U (Wii VC) 150~ hrs Completed (100%)

S

My Thoughts:

This is one of my favorite video games of all time.

This is the best Rhythm Heaven game in the series. Every minigame is great and memorable, with unique wacky scenarios and an absolute earworm of a song to go with each one. The remixes are equally fun, beautifully integrating each minigame and showcasing a lot of creativity. Remix 10 is the single greatest remix in the entire series; not only is it the right amount of challening, but it brings together every single minigame perfectly. The game is charming start to finish, the soundtrack is magnificent and the series' signature quirkiness is at its highest with this game.

Status Note:

I have all 50 perfects! I've played this game so much that all the minigames are easy now :')

Celeste PC 45 hrs Finished

A+

My Thoughts:

Fantastic platformer with amazingly tight controls and a right amount of challenge. This game will push the limits of your skills while staying fair and grounded; every death is a new lesson learned and seeing yourself slowly conquering each screen is very rewarding. And it does this while telling an emotionally engaging story. Simply one of the best platformers ever made.

Status Note:

I beat the game, got all 175 strawberries and did all the B-Sides! One day I'll attempt the C-Sides and gold strawberries, but not in a long time...

Hypnospace Outlaw PC 17 hrs Finished

A+

My Thoughts:

This internet simulator is unlike any other game I've seen. Its humor, storytelling and gameplay are executed masterfully in a way that is only enabled by this unique format. Every inch of this game is full of charm and detail, and the way the narrative unfolds through gameplay really makes you feel like a real detective performing an in-depth investigation.

Status Note:

I beat the game. Pretty satisfied with it, I don't have plans to 100% it.

Pikmin 4 Switch 55 hrs Finished

A+

My Thoughts:

Very fun strategy game full of surprises. Each area of the game is crafted with lovely attention to detail that makes it a lot of fun to explore. Managing my army of Pikmin and putting my dandori skills to the test to make the most of each day was rewarding and satisfying. I loved collecting every treasure and see how it references the real world. This game always managed to one-up itself at every new corner and kept me fully engaged until the very end. Oh, and the postgame is incredible!

Status Note:

I got Investigation Complete, with 100% everything on the results screen. Getting all the side quests with all the platinum medals and stuff is a different story...

Portal 2 PC 23 hrs Finished

A+

My Thoughts:

This is another great example of a game whose story and gameplay work with each other more than most games out there. For the gameplay: the portal mechanics are top notch and they make for some brilliant puzzles. Some of them really require you to squeeze every neuron in your brain to solve them. My favorite ones are the long, multi-step puzzles, that are like a bunch of mini puzzles that join into a larger picture. Those feel extra-rewarding when you do that final sequence that puts it all together. For the story, it's just really good. The humor in particular is excellent and makes the game even more memorable.

Status Note:

Beat the game and got all the singleplayer achievements. Haven't touched multiplayer yet though.

Splatoon 2 Switch 280 hrs Finished

A+

My Thoughts:

While I played the first game as a kid, this one was my true introduction to the Splatoon series. I played a lot of it very casually, basically I had zero clue how to play the game strategically, didn't know about any techniques, never tried new weapons or cared about gear builds. Despite this, somehow I managed to brute force my way to S rank in all ranked modes except Clam Blitz (I basically never touched that mode). In retrospect, the multiplayer modes were very flawed in many ways. Even knowing some of those faults back then, it was still fun enough for me to enjoy my time with it. The singleplayer mode was... okay, but that doesn't matter because this game has Octo Expansion!

Octo Expansion is the single greatest DLC campaign I've ever played. It perfected the singleplayer Splatoon formula and gave us new ideas, gameplay elements, and goals that are both fun and challenging. It also told a great story that really connects us with Agent 8 way more than it did with the previous campaigns and their protagonists. It gave greater depth to characters we already loved, explored some dark themes in its lore, and expanded the series' worldbuilding in meaningful ways. The campaign was difficult but was an absolute joy to play from start to finish.

Status Note:

I beat the base story mode (Octo Canyon), but there's no way in hell I'm getting 1000% (yes, that's 3 zeroes). For Octo Expansion, I cleared all 80 levels and the secret boss. And of course, I stopped playing the multiplayer since Splatoon 3 exists.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Switch 35 hrs Finished

A+

My Thoughts:

This port took a good game and turned it into an amazing one. The base game is the same as the original with some minor tweaks and additions, but for as small as they may seem, they hit really hard. The gameplay experience is so much better with changes such as increased movement speed and the new dive move. There's also tons of QoL improvements like persisting collectibles after death and all 4 players being able to use a pointer, all of which further elevate the experience. They even added online play! This port also includes a brand new campaign, Bowser's Fury. This bite-sized Mario game is incredible and is jam packed with great ideas. It makes me wonder what a full sized open-world Mario game could be like... Anyway I really like this game. I already had a soft spot for the original, and I'm so glad it got the glow-up it deserved. This is the definitive way to play this game and it is definitely one of my favorite Mario games.

Status Note:

I've beaten this game 3 times across both consoles. On my main save I'm so close to 100% (I hate the characters requirement!). Also, I got all 100 shines in Bowser's Fury on Switch.

Mario Kart Wii Wii 150~ hrs Finished

A

My Thoughts:

To me, this was *the* childhood Mario Kart. I played this a lot as a kid, and have fond memories of playing it in parties and gatherings. Playing it now, this is still a very good game. The courses are good (for the most part), the character roster is varied, the bikes feel amazing to race with, and the item balancing... well that part sucks. While the aggresive item chaos makes for a frustrating solo experience, at least it's fun to laugh at when playing with friends. Nevertheless, this entry is fun to revisit every once in a while.

Status Note:

Got a gold medal in all 32 cups, I don't remember if I unlocked every character or vehicle though, and I definitely didn't touch time trials.

Outer Wilds PC 41 hrs Finished

A

My Thoughts:

Due to the way this game is designed I can't say much without spoiling it, so I'll keep it brief. It is one of the most uniquely designed games ever made, and its approach to game progression and storytelling is brilliant. This game will put your problem solving skills to the test in ways you've probably never felt. I had my ups and downs with it, even nearly gave up one time, but I'm glad I stuck till the end. This is a game you can only play one time, and it is truly an unforgettable, transcendental experience. Trust the people who tell you to dive into the game completely blind.

Status Note:

I beat the game. What more can I say?

Puyo Puyo Tetris PC 114 hrs Finished

A

My Thoughts:

One of my first Tetris games, and probably the one I have the most fond memories of! Coming from the mobile app and Tetris Friends, this game was such a huge step up. I beat the story mode, I played quite a bit of Marathon, I occasionally played with friends but the thing I did most was play 1v1s against CPUs. I would challenge the hardest opponent on spicy difficulty and try to beat 'em 3-0 (it was so difficult for me back then!). I'm not much of a Puyo guy myself but I still enjoy trying it every now and then. To this day I'm still fascinated by how well they mixed these two games together to make for some interesting dynamics and game modes. Overall, this is one of my favorites Tetris games and it will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Status Note:

Finished the story, I don't remember if I got all 3 stars in each level.

Rhythm Heaven Megamix 3DS 210 hrs Finished

A

My Thoughts:

My first Rhythm Heaven game! Based on trailers and gameplay videos I knew I was gonna like it, but I was not prepared for how much this game would click with me. I was completely enamored with it; the rhythm gameplay was beautiful unlike anything else, and the general style of the game (in terms of aesthetics and humor) was fascinating. I played this game to death: at home, at school, I'd show it to friends and pass my 3DS around, it would often be the only game I brought with me on trips... it was a lot. My love for this game also led me to master each minigame and get a perfect on every one of them. It was a long and difficult process for a younger, less-skilled me, but it was a significant achievement that has stuck with me. Since this was a compilation game, this gave me a taste of what the other games were like before I got into them. Since then, I've played every Rhythm Heaven game and even got into its YouTube community for a little while. I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to the series.

Status Note:

Got all 108 perfects! I also have every minigame collectible. Pretty sure I'm missing some challenges and badges, though. I should definitely revisit this game sometime.

Super Mario 3D World Wii U 40 hrs Finished

A

My Thoughts:

I have such a soft spot for this game, it was my childhood Mario game and in fact, one of the first games I've ever beat. That aside, it's just a really good Mario game. The level design is impeccable and creative in its themes and layouts (I wish they were longer though!). This, combined with the large amount of power-ups and each character having different stats, makes the game just have a lot variety, always mixing up the gameplay to keep things fresh. While this version of the game has its fair share of problems, the Switch port fixed a lot of them and brought the game to a near perfect state.

Status Note:

I beat the game as a kid, got to the special worlds but not World Crown.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder Switch 20 hrs Completed (100%)

A

My Thoughts:

One of the most refreshing Mario games I've ever played. Every level presents a new idea. The lineup of power-ups is some of the best to date. Every block and platform, every coin, every enemy, every secret, it all feels so meticulously placed. The secrets in particular are hidden in spots that are fair and fun to find. And on top of all of that, every single level has a Wonder effect. All of them. The amount of twists and surprises that every level brought had me in pure awe. It's a game that made me smile a lot, and it brought me back to a time of child-like wonder where everything is new and the joy of discovery is strong. An incredible experience in an incredibly designed game that left me wanting more.

Status Note:

Got all 6 medals, which gives me the big green checkmark that indicates full completion. It was quite easy, took me 4 days!

Super Mario Odyssey Switch 85 hrs Finished

A

My Thoughts:

My first Switch game! Probably the Mario game with the most freedom. The kingdoms are The large amount of moons does mean that there's a lot of filler but that should detract from how good the main game is.

Status Note:

I have 877 moons. I literally only have Darker Side left. I don't know why I stopped. I just know I could finish it at literally any time.

Tetris 99 Switch 70 hrs Satisfied

A

My Thoughts:

The concept of a Tetris battle royale sounds ridiculous on paper, but in practice it's very clever and works really well. It's fun, it's addictive, it's Tetris but with a unique and novel twist.

Status Note:

I've gotten my fix of this game. I return to it on occasion.

Undertale Switch 25 hrs Finished

A

My Thoughts:

This game is special for numerous reasons that the internet has already pointed out plenty of times. What strikes me the most about this game is how it tells its story through its gameplay, and how masterfully it intertwines both elements. The choice of slaying or sparing an enemy is not a simple dialogue prompt, but a goal that you have work towards and earn. The bullet-hell minigame is already a very clever system to handle receiving or dodging damage that scales with difficulty, but it goes a step further than that and uses it as storytelling device. This is just one of the things that makes Undertale such a unique experience.

Status Note:

I've finished both the true pacifist ending and the genocide ending :D

Katamari Damacy REROLL PC 13 hrs Finished

A-

My Thoughts:

Funny game with simple yet addictive gameplay. It's really satisfying to just roll stuff and see your katamari get comically larger until it's big enough to demolish absolutely everything in its path. This game is the definition of unhinged, it's fantastic.

Status Note:

I beat the game. I don't plan on getting all achievements.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes PC 49 hrs Completed (100%)

A-

My Thoughts:

This is one of the best co-op games I've ever played. Insanely fun concept that really test your skills and communication. It's always a blast to play with friends, whether they're experienced or a first-timer. The game also has expansive mod support which makes it infinitely replayable.

Status Note:

I've defused every bomb in the game (as the defuser)! Gotta share credit with the friends who played as the experts. Kudos!

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Wii U 40 hrs Finished

A-

My Thoughts:

This is a pretty fun and charming Zelda game. There's so much personality in everything, enhanced by the amazing cel-shaded artstyle. The Great Sea is an interesting take on an overworld, and it's full of secrets that makes exploring fun. Your item arsenal is vast and the dungeons are pretty good. It's been a long while since I beat the game, so I don't remember the finer details, but I had a very good time with it.

Status Note:

Beat the game, and I'm pretty satisfied with that.

Mario Party Superstars Switch 75 hrs Satisfied

A-

My Thoughts:

This is Mario Party at its peak. After a series of mixed games, it's kinda funny that the secret to a good game was to just bring back the old Mario Party stuff and expand on that (what a crazy concept!) Not only is the selection of classic boards and minigames very good, but the sheer amount of details, additions and quality of life improvements add up to an amazing experience. The pacing has been dramatically improved (compared to previous entries), and there has never been so much information at your disposal for you to plan out your moves. The dev team really went above and beyond into this game, the only thing it lacks is more characters and more boards (and maybe more customization options). I hope the next Mario Party uses this as the base but with new boards and minigames; this formula is nearly perfect.

Status Note:

There's no win condition, so all I'll say is that this is a fun game (play with friends for a better experience).

Pikmin 3 Deluxe Switch 30 hrs Finished

A-

My Thoughts:

For me, this was one of those games where I didn't get it at first, but later it all clicked. The first time I played it, I did two hours and didn't come back. Two years later, I started over and immediately fell in love with it. Juggling between 3 captains makes for some tense gameplay, but it makes optimzing your days feel really good. It's just a wonderful game. After this game I've since played the other three Pikmin games and became a fan of the series, so I owe this game that!

Status Note:

Got all 66 fruits (best ending) in normal mode, and I'm pretty content with that!

Pizza Tower PC 11 hrs Finished

A-

My Thoughts:

This game was insane from beginning to end. The movement was insane, the level design was insane, the bosses were insane, the humor was insane, the music was insane, the animation and artstyle was EXTRA-insane. This game makes you FEEL insane while playing it, and I mean that in a good way. It is a really fun, incredibly fine-tuned experience.

Status Note:

Finished the game with 69% Tower Status

Rhythm Heaven DS 70~ hrs Finished

A-

My Thoughts:

I played this entry after Fever and Megamix, because as a Rhythm Heaven fan I wanted to play all the games. This game is just more of the same I love. The minigames are fantastic and the music rocks, all with this series' signature quirkiness. Apart from the main minigames, there's also a lot of side content, which is always fun. It's been a long time since I last played it, but I'd like to revisit it one day so I can get a perfect on every minigame (I did it on Fever and Megamix, so I gotta do it eventually ;)).

Status Note:

One day I'll return and get all perfects, just you wait >:3

Super Mario 64 Switch 30 hrs Completed (100%)

A-

My Thoughts:

I've played bits of this game for a long time, but it wasn't until the Super Mario 3D All-Stars port where I properly sat down to play it to the end. It impresses me how good this game is despite being decades old and being the first of its kind. Mario's movement is buttery smooth and it's very satisfying to chain jumps and kicks to maneuver around the stages. Not all the game has aged well; some physics can be janky and the camera might work against you, but that shouldn't take away from the fact that this is a well designed game that's still worth playing today.

Status Note:

Got all 120 stars, pretty fun experience except for some annoying (or boring) stars.

Super Mario Galaxy Wii, Switch 50 hrs Finished

A-

My Thoughts:

Like any other Mario game, this game is just pure fun. The gravity mechanics make for some interesting level design. For being set in outer space, the level themes are quite varied. And I just have to mention the amazing soundtrack, not only good on its own but also perfectly suits its corresponding level. Sometimes the physics can be janky but that just adds to the charm. And speaking of charm, this game is brimming with it.

Status Note:

I beat the game. I'm interested in doing a 120 star run someday (maybe even 242 stars if I ever feel like it).

We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie PC 15 hrs Finished

A-

My Thoughts:

It's Katamari Damacy but even better! Everything that made the first game great is here, and the gameplay is expanded further with new scenarios and objective types. The game is still fun and ridiculous, the music is as amazing as ever, and that final level is even more insane than the previous one. If you liked its prequel, please play this one, you're in for a good time.

Status Note:

I beat the game, happy with that.

Wii Sports Resort Wii 120~ hrs Satisfied

A-

My Thoughts:

This collection of infinitely-replayable sports is an absolute timeless classic. There's so much variety in games and modes that there's bound to be something you like. I also appreaciate the low skill floor and the high skill ceiling, so regardless of if you're picking a controller for the first time or are a seasoned veteran, there's always fun to be had. And I love the theming of it all taking place in a tropical island resort, with a world so detailed you get to feel like you're right there, living in Wuhu Island. Whether you're playing solo or with friends, you're guaranteed to have a good time.

Status Note:

It's just a highly replayable game. I'd like to get all stamps one day.

EarthBound Switch (SNES - NSO) 40 hrs Finished

B+

My Thoughts:

This game is next-level quirky, weird and strange. You cannot go two seconds without encountering some ridiculous event, situation or person. The story is really funny and engaging all the way through, only to throw it all away at the end and give you one of the most insane ending sequences to a game. Truly an experience! Apart from a few irks, this game has aged pretty well overall.

Status Note:

I beat the game.

The Jackbox Party Pack 7 PC 18 hrs Satisfied

B+

My Thoughts:

This game is simply a blast to play, it's always fun to gather around a group of friends and go at it for a few hours. My favorite games in the pack are Quiplash 3 and Champ'd Up, and are the ones I play the most. I wish I had more chances to play with friends because this hilarious game always brings us good times.

Status Note:

There's no win condition, you just play with friends whenever you want to (like a board game). I guess there's achievements but who cares about those.

Metroid Dread Switch 35 hrs Completed (100%)

B+

My Thoughts:

Metroid came back to remind us what a great metroidvania should be like. It's so much fun to explore this giant map; finding secrets, defeating enemies, and going back to previous areas with new equipment. Controls are tight, movement is fluid, and the combat is fun (the final boss in particular was a highlight). The game is difficult, but generous saves and checkpoints allow you to jump straight back into the action. Like Super Metroid, I loved the progression from being weak and fragile, to being an unstoppable force. Awesome experience overall.

Status Note:

I beat the game and got 100% in Normal Mode. In another save file, I beat the game in under 4 hours for the best ending, also done in Normal Mode.

Slime Rancher PC 39 hrs Finished

B+

My Thoughts:

Really cute game whose gameplay loop sucked me in for an entire two weeks. Loved tending my ranch and exploring the small open world to find new slimes and stuff. I also had a great time abusing the stock market and getting unfathomably wealthy (lmao). I didn't really play a whole lot after seeing the credits, nor did I mess around with the advanced stuff, but I really enjoyed everything else I did.

Status Note:

I saw the credits and played for just a little more after that.

Sonic Mania PC 26 hrs Finished

B+

My Thoughts:

This was one of my first PC games when I got my own laptop. (UNFINISHED)

Status Note:

I got the good ending with Sonic and Tails. Also I bought the Encore DLC but never played it LOL

Super Mario Maker 2 Switch 70~ hrs Finished

B+

My Thoughts:

I don't think I need to explain the joy that comes from playing user created Mario levels, or making your own. This toolbox has allowed people to create some really amazing stuff that never in a million years could be found in a Mario game made by Nintendo. The only thing holding this game back is itself, as there are some limitations or underutilized mechanics that prevent course makers from unleashing their full potential. And also the fact that actually finding good levels is like looking for needles in a haystack. And that the online multiplayer kinda sucks. And that the search feature is non existent. And also the lack of developer support.

Status Note:

It's not really the main focus of the game, but I did beat the Story Mode. I don't remember if I got to 100%.

Super Mario World Switch (SNES - NSO) 16 hrs Finished

B+

My Thoughts:

This is one of my favorite 2D Mario games. The level design is really good, power-ups like the cape are broken in a good way, and I really like the interconnected world map (to this day, no other Mario game has had a better hub or map than this one). Very easy to just come back and replay to have a good time.

Status Note:

I have like 92 out of 96 exits, cuz I remember giving up in the last 4 courses of the special world. I should definitely return to the game and beat those levels to finish this game for good.

Super Metroid Switch (SNES - NSO) 44 hrs Completed (100%)

B+

My Thoughts:

Good game that holds up surprisingly well. While you can't escape the awkward controls and a few outdated gaming tropes, other parts like the level design of this giant map is immaculate. Exploring the unique environments, finding secrets, and fighting enemies is all fun and good. The journey of slowly becoming more and more powerful until you're an unstoppable superhuman will never get old. This game is classic worth checking out or revisiting.

Status Note:

Got 100% of the items and beat the game. In another save file, I beat the game in under 3 hours for the best ending.

My Thoughts:

Great sandbox that allows you to play basically any board or card game ever. I wish I could play it with friends more often though...

Status Note:

This is a sandbox, there's nothing to complete.

Terraria PC 78 hrs Unfinished

B+

My Thoughts:

This game has such an overwhelming amount of things to do that I've never properly sat down to beat it. Despite my play count, the farthest I've gotten is unlocking hardmode (which is basically the 'true start' of the game from what I've heard). Nevertheless, the game is still fun, so in the future I'd like to dedicate the time it deserves.

Status Note:

I don't think I'll ever finish this c':

WarioWare: Get it Together! Switch 55 hrs Finished

B+

My Thoughts:

My first WarioWare game! I knew about the series and knew I'd like it, but I didn't think I'd enjoy it so much. I played and replayed this game a lot, as aiming for high scores and mastering the two hundred microgames was a lot of fun.

Status Note:

Did all the story mode stages and unlocked all the microgames. Dunno if I'll ever get all the achievements or whatever they're called.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Switch 10 hrs Finished

B

My Thoughts:

Fun puzzle game with unique concepts and creative level design, whose one of its few faults is its short length that leaves you wanting more. Not every level was a winner but the highs were really high.

Status Note:

I got all the gems and the bonus task in every level of the main game (episodes 1-3). I didn't do all the bonus levels (I played this as an NSO demo and my time ran out :( )

Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics Switch 65 hrs Satisfied

B

My Thoughts:

This is just a neat collection of games of all types. Not much to say, it's just good to have so many easily digestible games in one package. I enjoyed it a lot with my family when we were on the 2020 pandemic lockdown.

Status Note:

Haven't "mastered" (a.k.a. beat the 4 computer difficulties) all the games, and likely never will due to complex games like shogi and mahjong.

Mario Kart DS DS 50~ hrs Finished

B

My Thoughts:

A childhood classic that has spawned many memories of playing with friends and family. I dedicated myself to beating this game during high school and I had a blast revisiting the game.

Status Note:

I got gold in all grand prix cups and got the alternate title screen. I don't remember if I completed the mission mode.

Mario's Super Picross Switch (SNES - NSO) 20 hrs Unfinished

B

My Thoughts:

I love picross, so of course I like this game. Not a big fan of the Mario puzzles (I think picross games with penalty systems are stupid), but the Wario puzzles don't have that problem. Also, Wario Puzzle 1 is one of the greatest SNES songs I've ever listened to.

Status Note:

I'm on Level 6 of both Mario and Wario's puzzles

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 PC 114 hrs Completed (100%)

B

My Thoughts:

This game is as good as the first game... and that's my problem with it. There's 1 new mode and a few new characters. Sure, the story mode is different but gameplay-wise it's mostly the same. It's more like Puyo Puyo Tetris 1.5 rather than a sequel deserving the '2'.

Status Note:

I dont know why full completion is "219%" but I got that. Got 4 stars in every level.

A Short Hike PC 6 hrs Finished

B

My Thoughts:

This game is the definition of short and sweet. Cute and relaxing game with a simple goal. Exploring the island was my favorite part of the game, as it definitely scratched my Breath of the Wild itch. A bite sized BotW-like adventure!

Status Note:

I beat the game.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch 65 hrs Satisfied

B

My Thoughts:

I'm not as into this game as many other people, I'm just here to have a good time every now and then, especially with friends. I'm the type of guy to like items and crazy stages, but I do appreciate the focused, more competitive nature of playing in a balanced stage with no items (even if I don't play like that often).

Status Note:

I never got that far into World of Light, not sure if I'll ever beat it.

Portal PC 6 hrs Finished

B

My Thoughts:

Playing this after Portal 2 definitely makes this one seem lacking in comparison, but I still liked it as a "this is what the first game was like" type of deal. Still a good puzzle game if viewed standalone.

Status Note:

I beat the game, that's about it.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 65 hrs Satisfied

B-

My Thoughts:

This game had me hooked when I first played it, played it for months. There was always something for me to do, and I liked decorating my house and island. Even though I unfortunately got bored of it eventually, I still consider it a good game.

Status Note:

I've gotten my fix for this game, I don't think I'll ever return.

Luigi's Mansion 3 Switch 25 hrs Finished

B-

My Thoughts:

It was a good game, there's some really neat puzzles and some of the bosses are cool. I don't remember much more of this game honestly, it wasn't too memorable for me, but I still remember liking it enough to see the the end.

Status Note:

I finished the game.

Mario Tennis Aces Switch 30 hrs Finished

B-

My Thoughts:

Like other Mario sports games, this game exists purely to have fun every now and then, especially with friends. There's nothing particularly special, it's just a good tennis game.

Status Note:

I guess I beat the story? Didn't really care for that (I mean come on, it's a Mario sports game, you don't play it for the story)

Mini Metro PC 12 hrs Unfinished

B-

My Thoughts:

A simple yet brilliant management game. The gameplay is very easy to understand, which combined with the minimalist interface, means you can focus on the goal of managing your metro with no distractions. Not much else to say, it's just fun.

Status Note:

I've beaten like 10 levels

Pikmin 1 Switch 10 hrs Completed (100%)

B-

My Thoughts:

I played the Switch port after Pikmin 3 and 4, and while the game is fun, I definitely miss some of the additions and refinements from the other games. The game can be janky, especially with the dumb Pikmin AI, but it still has a lot of charm. Maybe I'll like it more when I replay it again, this seems like that type of game.

Status Note:

I got 30/30 ship parts in 21 in-game days.

Plants Vs Zombies PC 21 hrs Finished

B-

My Thoughts:

A puzzle classic. The constant reward of new plants as you progress keeps the gameplay fresh. Even if the strategies can get a bit repetitive, it's still a good time.

Status Note:

I beat the main game.

Stacklands PC 21 hrs Unfinished

B-

My Thoughts:

Really fun game that does a whole lot from the simplicity of its mechanics. The multitasking of progressing while maintaining an organized table full of cards makes for an addictive gameplay loop that makes it hard to drop. However, it was a very short experience that kept you wanting more, but since then it has gotten content updates (that I've yet to check out). Maybe one day I'll replay the game and see how much has changed.

Status Note:

I beat the game back when it first released, though I haven't dabbled into its content updates yet as I said.

SUPERHOT PC 7 hrs Finished

B-

My Thoughts:

I don't tend to play any shooter games but I liked this one. The main concept of how the flow of time works is a neat idea that's well executed, and I liked the trial and error process of slowly mastering a level from start to finish.

Status Note:

I beat the main game.

Untitled Goose Game PC 15 hrs Finished

B-

My Thoughts:

Fun little puzzle game with great humor. It's a bit too short but it's clever and charming all the way through (short and sweet, as they say!). You can definitely go through it in one sitting. Two-player is also a good time when playing with someone unfamiliar with the game.

Status Note:

I have all the achievements except the time attack ones.

Mario Golf: Super Rush Switch 30 hrs Satisfied

C+

My Thoughts:

It's fine enough but at the end of the day, it's just golf. The course design is hit or miss, and I wish there was more wackiness expected from a Mario spinoff. Still kinda fun every now and then, or when playing with friends.

Status Note:

I didn't bother with the story mode, I just play standard golf.

WarioWare: Move It! Switch 5 hrs Finished

C+

My Thoughts:

This game is just, kinda mediocre. The microgames are really good, as they should. Sometimes the motion controls are janky, but when they work, you get some of the most genius and creative use of the joy-con controllers. The bad part is that... that's all the game has. There's barely any side modes, no real colletibles, and there's little incentive to replay the microgames. In other words, this game is missing what makes WarioWare what it is, and falls flat compared to other entries in the series.

Status Note:

WHAT THE GOLF? PC 7 hrs Finished

C+

My Thoughts:

This game is decent but it's not that memorable. Gameplay is basic and it's only driven by humor. It's fine, it just doesn't have a lot of lasting power.

Status Note:

I beat the main campaign, that's about it.

Super Mario Kart Switch (SNES - NSO) 10~ hrs Unfinished

D

My Thoughts:

This game has not aged well. The visuals aren't the greatest and the controls are awful (way too slippery!). I don't hate it but it's fun for max 15 minutes.

Status Note:

I've played all the cups in 100cc, I guess...

This game melts my brain. I'm not clever enough for this.

Deltarune PC 15 hrs Unfinished -

My Thoughts:

I'll say more about it when the game is actually finished. So far (a.k.a. chapter 1 and 2) it's good.

Status Note:

I've done the secret bosses of both chapters, so that should count for something

Hollow Knight PC 16 hrs Unfinished -

My Thoughts:

I don't know why but I can't seem to get into this game. Every time I play, I get engaged for a short period of time but not enough to keep me coming back. Everyone seems to love this game, so someday I want to dedicate the time to it so I can give it a fair shot.

Status Note:

idk like 20-30%

Pikmin 2 Switch 10 hrs Unfinished -

My Thoughts:

I haven't finished this game yet but it's fun so far. Except for the dumb stuff in caves of course...

Status Note:

I'm missing the final area and some treasures all around.

Ring Fit Adventure Switch 70 hrs Unfinished -

My Thoughts:

I used this to exercise years ago and it was pretty good. As a game it's okay but that doesn't matter cuz you use it more as a tool, and as a tool it's pretty decent.

Status Note:

I was either on the final world or the penultimate world. I stopped playing because I lacked the energy to keep exercising and lost motivation :(

Slay The Spire PC 12 hrs Unfinished -

My Thoughts:

I got hooked on this game for like 3 days, then never played it again. Maybe I should pick it back up sometime.

Status Note:

Not even close. I've gotten to the 2nd world once.

isn't this a neat background?
